Buenaventura Golf Club

Playa Blanca, Panama

A WORLD-CLASS 18-HOLE GOLF COURSE DESIGNED BY NICKLAUS DESIGN

Our 18-hole Nicklaus Design course transforms your game from the first swing to the last putt. The par-72 layout stretches to 7,324 yards across undulating fairways, white-sand bunkers, and 11 lakes in play on 15 of the 18 holes, all set among more than 300 Corotú trees.

A six-time World Golf Awards winner as Panama’s Best Golf Course, it has hosted numerous national and international tournaments, including the Buenaventura Classic, a PGA Tour Latino América event.

The 18-hole Jack Nicklaus Design championship course has been the spine of community life since it opened in 2012 — ranked #1 in Panama, demanding from the back tees, genuinely enjoyable from the forward ones, and the kind of layout that becomes a weekly habit rather than a trophy round. A second course by Robert Trent Jones II is currently in development. When it opens, Buenaventura will hold something that doesn’t exist anywhere else in Central America: 36 holes of championship golf inside a single gated Pacific community, paired with a full-service marina, a Marriott Autograph Collection hotel, and more than 1,000 families who actually live here.

Panama’s #1-ranked course opens with water and doesn’t let up. Eleven lakes come into play across 15 of the 18 holes, framing approaches and punishing ambitious lines off the tee. The routing winds through mature Corotu and Panama trees, white-sand bunkers, and tropical vegetation that gives the course a classic parkland character — unhurried and visually generous, even when the scoring isn’t.

From the back tees, this is a proper championship test — 7,324 yards of Platinum Paspalum that rewards ball-striking and patience in roughly equal measure. Move forward, and the course opens up considerably, which is part of why it works as an everyday layout for the families and retirees who play it several times a week rather than once a year.

The clubhouse sits at the heart of it — restaurant, bar, pro shop, and a terrace that looks out over the 18th. On weekend mornings, it fills early.
